Across the Years 2000/2001

My official race photo

Late the first afternoon of the 48-hour race, co-director Frank Cuda stood at the chute and took individual pictures of each runner coming through with his digital camera.

How many races are able to deliver official race photos to the runners before the end of the race? The next morning, all the pictures had been printed, put into a magnetic frame, and spread out on a table just beyond the chute flags for runners to pick up. On Saturday they did the same for the 24-hour runners.

At this point, 6:25 into the race, I had completed 108 laps (26.84 miles), snailine by running standards, but given the warmth of the afternoon and with over 41 hours of fun yet ahead, I was traveling too fast, and had been duly warned about this by Paul.
