More finishers

Cyra-Lea is stretching across to grab the end of a finishing tape for runners to pass through. In the foreground is Ron Vertrees, third in 72-hour with 176 miles, and Jane Moser, who did 92 miles in the 24-hour.

I'm seen approaching for my own big finish just above Cyra-Lea's head. I was hoping to end it in less traffic than I did in order to get a better picture. I could have stopped for a few seconds to allow things to clear before coming across. When I finished there was only 1:41 left in the race, not enough time for another lap, so there was no reason to push. I suppose the reason I didn't wait was because of the overwhelming urge to kick to the finish, as is done in standard fixed-distance races, as though I were passing runners in the final stretch. The funny thing is, I was thinking that, but after 470 laps, I was no longer inclined to do the logical thing.
