Because the people interested in this sport constitute a
rarefied group, coming to a race is like a family reunion, as
people who know each other from previous races touch base and
share old times. Pictured among the early arrivals are Richard
Ehret, who ran the 24-hour on the third day, assistant race
director Frank Cuda, Frank's daughter, age 10, who ran the 24-hour
on the first day, Judy Kranz, and Dennis Kranz. Dennis dropped out
of the 72-hour on the second day because of physical problems, but
is a veteran multi-day runner who won the 48-hour Ultracentric
race.
